Getting the logs from FileZilla
If you’re getting errors when using FTP, it’s useful to know exactly what’s happening. We will be using FileZilla in this example.
Enabling debug logs
Enabling debug logs in FileZilla is quite easy. To do so,
- Open FileZilla. Select Edit > Settings.
- Find the Debug page.
- Check the “Show debug menu” box, which should be checked by default.
- Select “2 - Info” in the “Debug information in message log” section.
- Click Ok to save.
Gathering the logs
Now that you have debug logging enabled, you need to retry connecting to FTP.
In the text box at the top of the screen, you will find it is filled with lots of text. This is the debug log from FileZilla.
To provide the utmost helpful information, copy all of the text from this box and post it somewhere, such as our Community Forum or a pastebin. It is important to note that FileZilla hides sensitive data, such as passwords, so all the information in the box is safe to share.
