We allow the use of socket functions (fsockopen() and others) here on all free hosting accounts, but access is limited to prevent abuse.

Only certain default ports are open for sockets. Functions like SMTP (ports 25, 465, 587), FTP (port 21) and sending requests to other websites (ports 80, 443) should work all fine.

On the other hand, certain specialised ports, like gaming server ports, are not available. We will not accept requests to enable any additional ports.
